All over Georgia, English Language Learners will be taking the ACCESS for ELLs test to determine yearly growth in their acquisition of English. Students in Cobb County will test between January 20th and March 3rd. At McCall Primary, Lisa Redman and myself will do our best to complete the testing long before the testing window is over. Kindergarten students will be tested individually while first grade students will complete a listening, reading and writing test in small group. They will complete a speaking test that is given individually. All areas of the test assess social and acedemic language. The questions test the students' knowledge of English as it pertains to grade level acedemic situations (math, science, social studies and language arts). Letters were sent home with students with specific information about the test. We will receive the test results before the school year ends. Individual results will be sent home to parents in May. The ACCESS for ELLs will help to determine continued placement in ESOL.
